Sun burns do not occur only at the beach or on a summer trekking trip. Each and every day as the individual moves out to go to school, college, job; shopping or social parties; he or she is exposed to sun light. The Ultra Violet or UV rays in the sunlight are harmful to the skin. The UV rays can cause reddening of the skin, rashes, blisters and burns. The UV rays are also responsible for influencing the pigmentation of the skin. The darkening or tanning is an effect of long exposure to UV rays. The scientist has proven that long exposure to sun light may even lead to skin cancer. Read the full post

The Good the Bad and the Ugly about Anti-aging Creams There are many claims made about the miraculous properties of Anti-Aging creams by cosmetic companies. They claim to make you look 5 years younger, tone the skin, remove red blotch’s and of course treat those pesky lines around the eyes and mouth. This all sounds enticing but what they do not tell you is that there is a good chance that that Anti-aging cream probably contains parabens. Parabens -Why you don’t want them in your body care products Parabens are a group of potentially dangerous inexpensive chemicals that are added to Anti-aging creams primarily to inhibit bacteria and fungi growth and preserve the product itself, thus extending the shelf life of the product. Parabens have been found in breast cancer tumors according to The Journal of Applied Toxicology – May 2004. The most concerning problem seems to be lack of research on the long term consequences of daily use of these toxins. The Anti-aging cream Paradox A study at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan, suggests that parabens may cause skin exposed to UV rays to age prematurely and sag So the parabens preserve the product but may actually have the opposite effect to the primary reason for purchasing the the product in the first place. Then you might think that sunscreen would be the answer but sunscreens are likely to contain parabens, as well. So, why do companies use these potentially harmful ingredients in their products? Cosmetic companies claim that parabens are essential to protecting their products from spoiling. Fortunately for consumers, there are some companies that provide products that do not contain Parabens. “It’s about putting our customer’s wellness first!”, explains Cassi Evelyne founder of www.TakeTheTime.ca, ” Providing an effective, high quality body care product made from organic and natural ingredients allows us to give our customers the peace of mind of having a great product that contains no Parabens.” TakeTheTime.ca is dedicated to Organic and Natural products that use natural ingredients that do not cause harm. As an example of some of these natural ingredients are: Neem extract – Derived from the Azadirachta tree in India. Neem is powerful antibacterial that, when combined with other botanicals, forms an effective preservative. Neopein – This innovative broad-spectrum is a preservative is a proprietary blend of natural plant extracts that protect water-based products fro bacteria and fungi. Phenoxy ethanol – A nontoxic, broad-spectrum used to protect against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Polyaminopropy 1 biguanide – Kills a wide range of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Potassium sorbate – Derived from the mountain laurel ash, potassium sorbate is a mild antimicrobial that also protects against yeasts. Tips for avoiding harmful Parabens It is important to read the label but that can be confusing as parabens are listed by many synonyms so it is virtually impossible to decipher the listed ingredients. The way around this is to purchase Anti-aging cream and Anti-aging serum at retailers that have committed to only selling organic products. The five most commonly used parabens are Methylparabens, Ethylparabens, Propylparabens, Butylparabens, Isoparbens. Read the full post

Whenever you get back from a vacation, the first thing family and friends usually comment on is your great tan, or lack thereof. Tanning has been popular since the early 20th century, but the health risks associated with the sun’s UV rays have made maintaining an even tan — much less any kind of tan — difficult, especially for those who live in cold and rainy climates.
Enter indoor tanning salons, which became a popular trend in the ’80s. Now, indoor tanning is a $3 billion-a-year industry in the United States alone. Read the full post

An effective product for getting yourself naturally softer, moist and more sensual lips minus the much dreaded lip enhancement surgeries or collagen injections; lip fusion plumpers are scientifically designed to strengthen your lips from within and make them look healthy and attractive.
The plumpers are not just cosmetic products for temporarily fuller lips. When applied, they instantly nourish the connective tissues of your lips with collagens and peptides (for guaranteed absorption of collagens into the lip tissues). The collagens trigger on further natural generation of fresh collagen proteins and other related fibers in the lip tissues; this in turn results into lastingly hydrated lips with more defined colors and contours. The product also claims to bring about enduring improvement in your lips if the product is used consistently for minimum 30 days in a go. Read the full post

Lips are certainly the most noticeable feature on a woman’s face. A pair of beautiful lips is a must to ensure the overall charm of a woman’s face. However there are various factors that cause the lips to lose their natural softness and gloss, for example change in weather. Extra care is required to maintain the softness and succulence of lips during winter. Lips become dry and chapped due to lack of oil glands. Advanced lip care products that contain natural ingredients are best to ensure that your lips remain luscious and soft whether it’s sun or snow. Read the full post
